Still going strong since 1941, in “The Sailfish Capital of the World,” the “Stuart Sailfish Club.” In those days it was commonly heard of two hundred Sailfish being caught in a single day by forty boats. Unfortunately, their numbers quickly dropped to this. Curt Whiticar came up with the idea to create a gold release pin, which was awarded to any angler for safely releasing the Sailfish that had been caught. These pins were worn as a badge of honor among fishermen, in an effort to discourage the killing of these beautiful fish.
